My commute is a bit over 4 miles, from one suburb to the next. There are 12 stop lights, and only a couple of turns. Max speed, 45 mph for a few blocks.

Anybody else have a more boring commute?

What do you think is the perfect car for such a daily drive?

Some old British luxobarge with a v12. It'll make getting to work and back exciting and an adventure every time .

The school bus ride to school everyday. 'Bout 2 miles but at least I can sleep on the way.

Mines all highway for 20 miles if I drive to school. Kinda boring and expensive in Safari gas.

Id take an Saturn Aura V6. Seems like a nice comfy car with plenty of power for a daily commute.

An electric car of some sort, like say a Leaf.

It is an excellent commute, don't get me wrong, but it is also boring.

An electric car really would be excellent. They're too expensive still. If I had the dough, I'd be all over a Tesla. Even a Volt would be great.

That does get the expensive!

The Aura's platform-mate, my '11 V6 Malibu, really has been excellent on the commute ... When it's not breaking down :(

I think you have a lemony one. I hardly ever hear of these having reliability issues.

I completely agree. Here I was trying to be all responsible by buying a cheap, reliable used car. Now I'm slightly upside down on a car I don't trust as far as I can throw it. Figures the water pump would shit the bed, as soon as I put new tires on it.

Yikes. The most my friend's mom has had to do to her '09 was have the rear bumper realigned when she bought it because it was a little off. Nothing major like that. Though she had a 4-pot. It's not like the 3.6 is unreliable though.

Three break downs in 5k miles. I'm going to loose some money on it, but I will not be keeping it.

My worst was 2 miles and 45 minutes in Baton Rouge. I only drove for the sake of AC. Right now I have like 3 minutes. Still not the best which was immediately crossing the street and being at work. My job's better though.

from my bedroom, then 30 ft away to my computer in the dining room, there is never any traffic, but I do have to watch out for other random objects in the way.
